Poem - Waqt

Time has been our companion since the beginning,

But we never understood it,

Though we took help from the sun, moon, and stars to measure it.

We have created many proverbs connected with it;

It is said that time and tide wait for no one.

Time was an element in history’s events and crises;

It saw common men crowned, and witnessed tyrants hanged.

In its heart is saved our history.

Some communities, though, do not respect it;

Wasting time is their national sport.

Though time and work are like hand and glove,

This relationship varies from country to country.

Some respect time so much that they measure it with atoms.

This earth rotates at its command,

Changing night into day and day into night.

I should be going; it’s getting late.
